The term “grandma hobby” isn't my favorite but it does paint an evocative picture of wisened women quietly rebelling against the world by crafting their own.
I don't know about you, but that’s a picture I want to be in.
The thing is, the internet has sort of sucked the uniquely counterculture attitude out of making your own clothes. Instead, they focus on influencing you to buy expensive things you don't need or to start projects you don't really want or selling you their “expertise” (which can be genuine and valuable, more on that in a later post, but can also deliver less than promised). My goal is to create an inspiring and gratifying space for those of us who are tired of the hype.
